UAE travel: Wizz Air suspends Tel Aviv and Amman flights until September 15
Regional airspace closures lead to widespread disruptions across Middle Eastern routes
DUBAI: Wizz Air has announced an extension of flight cancellations to and from Tel Aviv, Israel, and its European routes to Amman, Jordan, until September 15, 2025, in response to ongoing regional tensions in the Middle East.
The low-cost airline confirmed that the decision was made with safety and security in mind, amid heightened concerns in the region.
In addition to these suspensions, Wizz Air has confirmed it will avoid flying over Israeli, Iraqi, Iranian, and Syrian airspace until further notice. The move is part of a broader strategy to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft amid the current situation.
Safety first
A statement issued on June 16 by the airline stressed: “The safety and security of our passengers, crew, and aircraft is our top priority.” The airline added that it is maintaining close communication with aviation and security authorities to monitor developments.
Wizz Air is directly reaching out to affected passengers who booked through its official channels. These customers are being offered free rebooking, full refunds in WIZZ credits, or reimbursement to their original payment method. Passengers who booked through third-party agents are advised to contact them for further assistance.
UAE flight operations
The disruptions come as carriers across the UAE and the wider Middle East continue to adjust flight schedules due to growing geopolitical uncertainty. Emirates Airline has halted all flights to Iraq, Iran, Jordan, and Lebanon, with some services suspended until June 30. Etihad Airways has also cancelled Tel Aviv flights until June 17, though Amman and Beirut routes have resumed with modified schedules.
flydubai has suspended operations to destinations including Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Iraq, and Israel until June 20, with other cancellations in effect for Minsk and St. Petersburg through June 17.
